Clients handed out around 拢6.1bn of construction work in July 鈥� up by around 拢500m from the month before, Glenigan data has revealed.

The figures (see 微密圈 Boardroom) reveal that the most work was awarded in the infrastructure sector, with firms here inking deals worth just under 拢1.2bn 鈥� or around 20% of all work awarded in the month.

The bulk of this, 拢445尘, was from three Department for Transport deals, and six Network Rail contracts worth a combined 拢277尘.

After infrastructure, the next most prolific sector was social housing, with clients here awarding firms 拢848m of business.

This was followed by those in the utilities and industrial sectors, at around 拢738m apiece.

Meanwhile, the data also revealed that 拢8.69bn worth of projects were approved in July, up 26% on the 拢6.95bn approved in June.

The private housing sector was the market with the highest value of projects given the green light, with permission secured for 366 schemes worth almost 拢2.55bn.

After private residential, commercial achieved the second highest value of approvals at just under 拢1.6bn, followed by industrial at 拢1.35bn. 

Overall the client to receive planning permissions with the highest value was the Department of Health and Social Care. It had six schemes worth a combined 拢450m given the green light.
