Three senior hires have been made to the UK real estate division, including Mike O’Donnell

Turner & Townsend has made three senior appointments to its project management consultancy.

Mike O’Donnell joins as UK lead, supported by Al Fernie who joins as project director and Jason Smith as director within the real estate team.

O’Donnell has nearly four decades of experience, including leading on the development of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, the O2 Arena and Bloomberg London during nearly 17 years at McAlpine.

He rejoined the firm as head of its commercial business in May 2023 as part of a raft of changes introduced by then-chief executive Paul Hamer, but left in April 2024 after less than a year in post.

Fernie will lead the construction delivery of major complex projects, drawing on 30 years of experience across several sectors including hyperscale data centres, mixed use commercial, healthcare and pharmaceutical.

Smith will focus on enhancing the technical and operational delivery strategy of live projects, particularly in the data centre and technology sectors. He has held senior roles at Mace, Durkan and the Berkeley Group.
