Bovis to build 36-storey block at Gracechurch Street for developer Sellar

Permasteelisa has won the next major subcontract package on the £500m 60 Gracechurch Street scheme due to be built by Bovis.

The firm won the City tower job last month – its first major deal since being bought by US private equity firm Atlas Holdings earlier this year – having beaten Mace and Multiplex.

William Hare, which has been bought by the entrepreneur brother of Take That singer Jason Orange, will carry out the steelwork contract while Permasteelisa has been appointed by developer Sellar and Obayashi Properties UK for the façade work. Keltbray is already on site carrying out demolition and groundworks.

How the 60 Gracechurch Street scheme will look when completed

The 36-storey building is due to be finished by early 2029 and will include 37,000 sq m of office space.

Designed by Danish practice 3XN, the new tower will replace the site’s existing nine-storey Allianz House, a mid-1990s building containing 13,300 sq m of office space.

The job was given approval by City planners just before Christmas despite concerns from heritage groups over the scheme’s impact on a neighbouring grade I-listed church.

The project team includes executive architect Adamson Associates, cost consultant T&T Alinea, project manager Gardiner & Theobald, structural engineer Arup, planning consultant DP9 and transport consultant Velocity. Landscape architect is Townshend.
