Axion Architects-designed scheme to open in autumn 2028

John F Hunt has begun enabling works on a flagship Premier Inn hotel scheme off Trafalgar Square in central London.

At nearly 700 rooms, the job at 5 Strand will be one of the largest budget hotels in the capital.

Others working on the scheme include Axiom Architects, engineer Elliot Wood, QS Baqus, project manager Cumming Group and planning consultant DP9.

Premier Inn owner Whitbread bought the development three years ago under a plan to grow the brand in London.

A main contractor for the 拢200m development, which includes land and construction costs, is due to be appointed later this summer.

The 13-storey hotel will run across 16,000sq m and is due to open in autumn 2028.
