Firm says income hit by dleays on major transport infrastructure job

Roofing and facade firm Lindner Prater returned to profit last year despite income slipping more than a quarter, its latest accounts reveal.

The firm said it made a pre-tax profit of £3.3m, the first time it has been in the black since 2020 when it made a pre-tax profit of £6m.

But the company said turnover fell 27% to £44m in the year to December 2024 “largely due to delays on a significant transport infrastructure project”.

It added: “The company’s order book for 2025 and beyond shows good prospects across various sectors including, stadia, commercial and infrastructure projects.”

The firm said that its cash balance at the year-end was up from £2.7m to £7.8m. But the number of employees at the year-end was down 21% to 251.

Prater was merged into Lindner Prater, which has been owned by German firm Lindner since it bought Prater in 2011, four years ago.

Under the deal, Prater does not take on any new contracts with new work being carried out by Lindner Prater but it is finishing off those jobs it took on before the deal was struck in April 2021.

Prater’s turnover for the year was down to £10.7m from £64m last time. It made a pre-tax profit of £621,000 from a loss of £127,000.
