Writers win Feature Writer of the Year and Young Journalist of the Year

΢Ȧ journalists last night picked up prestigious awards at the International ΢Ȧ Press Awards 2011.

΢Ȧ’s features editor Emily Wright won Feature Writer of the Year, after submitting interviews with , and .

Former ΢Ȧ reporter David Matthews won Young Journalist of the Year, with judges praising his reporting on .

The judges said of Wright: “Her excellent articles had a real impact and she showed a deep understanding of her subjects, while her writing presented the material in a very lively and incisive manner. A worthy winner.”

The judges said of Matthews: “We particularly liked his well written piece about construction in Iraq, but believed that his range of articles was thorough, mature and good on detail.”

΢Ȧ’s assistant editor Will Hurst won Housing/Residential Journalist of the Year for his reporting at ΢Ȧ’s sister title ΢Ȧ Design.
